Nona B. Carpenter Nona was first introduced to belly dance in the fall of 2001, and fell in LOVE with it immediately. Within the first year, she started sharing her belly experience with women and children of all ages. She has been teaching ever since, and has met many incredible people. She started teaching weekly in Mauston and in Baraboo, as a guest instructor, teaching specialty classes in veil and zills. She started weekly classes for a Wellness group that has been dancing since 2004. She began teaching classes in Mauston and Tomah for Dance Art Centers by Melisa in 2007. Nona continues to participate in as many belly dance seminars as she can, and has had the pleasure to work with over 30 different professional belly dancers in the past 8 years. Each of those talented women helped her find her "voice". Nona is co-founder of the Belly Dance Divas in Mauston. She has been more influenced by American Tribal Style and tribal fusion styles. Each Diva dance member brings her own talents and life-perspectives to the mix. They have been dancing together for many years. In the summer of 2007, she joined another group of belly dancers from Sparta. They blend many different styles and personalities into an exciting dance ensemble. They are ‘WOW Belly Dance’. Most recently, Nona joined with a "kindred spirit' drummer from Stevens Point. She has had the time of her life exploring doumbek and djembe. When she’s not dancing, she’s banging on her drum.
